  40. Yes I'm back with more intolerable questons for the gods of atari users.

  42. I have a now disease free 4Meg atatri 1040 STe no HDD (yet).
  43.  
  44. 1. I can't get the Dark Side of the Spoon demo posted at atari archive
  45. to work. The please wait and the reset screen work fine but the in the
  46. title screen and main demo the screen flickers badly and is pretty jumbled.
  47. I've tried all combinations of blitter on/off and screen 50/60Hz but
  48. nothing seems to work but maybe I just don't know how to do this
  49. properly. Anyone who has gotten this to work please advise me on what
  50. EXACTLY to do.

  52. 2. I would like to concatinate (glue together) two text files but I
  53. can't find any programs that will do that. I have riffled though just
  54. about every program at atari archive and I can't find what I'm looking
  55. for. If you know of any programs or text editors that will do this
  56. please let me know which program it is and give me tips on using it.

  58. 3. I work quite a bit on digital dec stations and I have gotten quit
  59. used to the Middle button=> select and drag and left button=> execute.
  60. Does anyone know of any programs that will reconfigure the atari mouse
  61. button to Left click = double click and right click = select or click
  62. and drag. Maybe I just need a finger work out but I can click 6 or 8
  63. times without clicking fast enough to execute an application.

  65. 4. I'm looking for a PC emulator that will emmulate from a HDD as much
  66. software as possible including vga graphics on a grayscale monitor. I
  67. was thinking about getting Turbo but I raelly don't know what the
  68. differences in the emulators are. It would be most helpful if anyone
  69. could elaborate.

  213. Aye, this is true, BUT if the ST had interlace mode, I have a feeling that
  214. you would be one that would brag about your 'computer' being able to display
  215. high res on a low res monitor!

  218. colors LESS than your lame medium resolution is able to display!

  228. SEAGATE ST-238R  5" hard drive (taken off from my Megafile30 a year ago,
  229.   if you want suitable connectors I can supply them so that you can use
  230.   this as your second drive. I actually sold off my Megafile30 with a 66 MB
  231. drive inside).

  278. the instruction cache in the '030?  Maybe it will average 1.5 cycles?

  320. 16MHz (ie 16million words/s) then I think that the discussion of the TT's bus
  321. will be resolved.

  449. I'm still a friendly guy. I had fun chatting with everyone at the past few
  450. shows. I just can't stand people that make no sense. I am a developer, not a
  451. PR person, so I just can't handle dealing with some of the stuff people say.

  453. That is one of the reasons why I now have a full time person answering my
  454. phone and taking orders and answering questions. As a side effect, orders
  455. are now actually processed and shipped out the same day you call, if you
  456. call before 5pm. So if you call to order Quick ST on say, a Monday, you will
  457. receive it by Thursday or Friday.

  462. I assume that it is safe to announce that Quick ST 3 is now FSM GDOS
  463. compatible. Again, for details, see an ad about how to obtain it, because

  467. that is sure to make all speed freak Atari users, and even net users, happy.
  468. Faster speed, lower price, better compatibility? Sorry, can't say. All I can
  469. say is that the changes being made to Quick ST right now will make it a more
  470. attractive product for everyone. So keep checking those magazine ads.

  473. After all, any discussion of his product is considered an advertisement. So

  540. I recently downloaded some .MOD sound tracker or noise tracker files from
  541. the atari archive. They wouldn't work with the TCB tracker program I was using
  542. so I down loaded the audio.lzh program which works.

  544. This prompts the following question, how many different .MOD, .SPL and .SNG 
  545. formats are in use for Atari and Amiga tracker type programs?
  546.  
  547. Does any documentation exist on the formats of these files?

  549. I have an old AKAI S700 12bit sampler and I would like to write a program to
  550. convert the samples in the .MOD files to AKAI sample dumps, and convert the
  551. song data to MIDI file format for playback with MIDI sequencing software.

  591. Well, Julian it sounds like you live in Germany, so I guess you
  592. would know more about what happens there then me. But I do know that
  593. many Atari products are sold in Germany which NEVER make it to the
  594. USA. So, just because the ASV is sold for about $5,000 USA$ in Germany
  595. does NOT mean that it will even be sold here in the USA.

  599. What about the mytical Atari CD ROM drives. Years ago Atari Corp promised
  600. a USA CD ROM drive. Which never happened. Just this year Atari Corp
  601. promised a SCSI-based CD ROM drive for the Mega STe/TT machine. But
  602. now Atari has dropped that as well.

  604. And what about the new TOS 2.06? Germany says it will be sold, but 
  605. Atari Corp USA says "Not Now".

  607. So, my point is that you can't trust Atari Corp, especially for a 
  608. $5,000 + computer!!
